Statues in the Mist

Statues in the Mist

A once-in-a-lifetime backpacking trip to the European back country  sounds like an amazing prize, right? That's what you thought when you opened up the mysterious letter that arrived under your door. You didn't stop to question why the postal delivery technician hadn't just put it in the mailbox with every other piece of mail and instead had slid it under the door frame like some sort of covert operative.

The gilded letter contained within promised it all, the trip of a lifetime to the city of Rovenia, located in the back country of Lithuania. Nevermind that you'd never heard of Rovenia - the brocure that accompanied the message included all the idyllic landscape you would expect from a luxury location. Heck, you desperately needed a vaction too. Why not take a chance and go somewhere new? So you packed your bags and hopped on the first flight to Europe.

You met up with your fellow contest winners at the Vilnius International Airport (do any of you remember entering a contest?) and met your driver, Lukas, who took you to the trailhead that would lead you down the road to Rovenia. Your hike along the trail began uneventfully, but soon after you started down the path a thick fog covered the area. You stumbled around in the fog for quite a while, but eventually you stumbled upon a series of statues.

They depicted all kinds of strange scenes: A woman who had been decapitated by devils. A child chasing an eyeball the size of a small dog. The king bowing to a devil. Each and every one of them unnerved you further.

Not long after that you arrived in Rovenia, or at least - you thought it was Rovenia. The whole place seems abandoned, except for those shifting shadows behind alleys stalking you. The Demonic visions that you keep seeing on your companions faces. The shuffling screams you hear, just beyond your ability to sense them clearly.

You're not sure why, but it seems like the fog is closing in. Chasing you. Threatening you.

You need to find shelter in this place. Maybe there's a safe place to hide. Perhaps you can take shelter in that clock tower. Or that building that looks like a school. Why is that statue over in the middle of the road? Was it... was it there before? No time to worry about that, you need to find shelter - now.

Places of Note: The old clock tower, abandoned school, convenience store, patisserie, central pavilion

Goal: Figure out what happened to you out in the fog and find some place where you will be safe until you can escape the city.
