We Are Legend

We Are Legend

"I knew it was goddamned bats! It's always bats!" Gary shouted over the sounds of the banging on the walls and doors, as he looked up from his microscope. The makeshift lab converted from a standard suburban ranch house has been your home for the past year. A few others have made this place their home since the "vampire virus" had infected and killed the majority of the population. Problem was, they didn't stay dead.

Things were relatively stable for a while - the creatures themselves, while capable of speech, are also quite dumb. They've forgotten how to open doors, they have trouble coordinating, and while they have been known to break through weakly barricaded entrances, so long as you're vigilant all you need do is survive until the morning. Their sunlight allergy appears to be psychological rather than causing any actual damage to them, but regardless the creatures return to their nests before dawn. If only it were easier to sleep, their damned exhortations of "We just want to drink your blood, please let us in!" are extremely annoying.

"Right, so what about bats makes any of this important? I thought you were working on something to subdue these things?" Rae said over the cacophony happening outside.

"It's because I know it was damned bats that I can synthesize a fuckin' serum, that's why.". Not long after that Gary scribbled down a long list of ingredients on a piece of paper along with a series of chemical formulas, that frankly look like he's just making something up to look smart.

"Okay, kids, I need you all to set out tomorrow - I need you to go to Alpha settlement ... yeah, I know it's a week away on foot ... and hand that paper to Dr. Whitmark, if she's still alive. If not, grab the supplies on the list and head back here." was all Gary said when he shoved that piece of paper into your hands. Rae shot him a glance that screamed "Alpha Settlement went dark days ago, and everyone knows it", but you all know that this is your last best shot at maybe finally getting a night's sleep. It's going to be a treacherous journey, and you're going to need to find a place to hole up each night, but hey it's basically like camping with the most annoying camp councilors on earth outside. Better pack a hammer and some nails.

Areas of Note: "Lab Rat House", Abandoned Streets, Residential Row, Long Highway, Alpha Settlement, Vampire Nest

Objective: Get to Alpha Settlement and assist Dr. Whitmark in synthesizing a bioweapon to end this plague once and for all.
